Theory of Progressive Stages

G.S. RAMESH KUMAR got his initial theoretical ideas in the year 1990 when he was I.M.A., Applied Psychology student. As usually students are not encouraged to contribute with their own theoretical ideas in any part of curricular activities, there was a delay in proposing. Also, human life in India has it own pressures. Finally, he could make it for Indian Science Congress Association in 1993. In 1999 he presented another paper on the same theory in ISCA Scientific session at Chennai, India.

He has been using this theory in his clinical practice.

Here you can have a brief version of His, "Theory of Progressive Stages":

Behaviors and Events are containing either Primary stages or Secondary Stages. Primary stages are that, whose sequence is fixed and can not be superseded. Secondary stages are that, whose sequence is not rigid and can be superseded. Such stages ensure that progress comes only due to continuity in realization and integration in each progressive stage and finally moving toward the supreme goal of Master Knowledge. In this process of attaining master knowledge. Essences of various experiences are embedded in the mind.

Rather than the externally observable events/experiences, their essences - real (objective), are more operative and influential. This process of essences forming the care of human mind can be explained through Filter-Tea Model:

Formation of mind is also a progressive process. Continuity in progressiveness is possible and should be maintained. Man is constantly after progress. Rather than need for achievement, the "Perception of Progress" is the sole motive. Whether normal or abnormal, constructive or destructive, man will do an activity only if he has "Perception of Progress" related to that activity-his perception of progress could be either realistic or unrealistic for that matter.

The produced behaviors also have essences and behaviors/events are not much important. They are only "Tools" to convey their "Essences". Therefore, for understanding and therapy, the analysis should focus on the Essences. Logical deduction is the tool which should be used to analyze and understand Essences at various levels as the Essences of any behaviors, are once again Containing progressive stages.

Tendency to supersede the stages is the basic cause of any pathology. The therapy in line with this theory is Essential Psychotherapy.

For identifying the root cause of an event, the factors are collectively analyzed to appreciate the Common Essence and which will be the true cause of that event.

In this connection there is postulate "If more than one Seemingly unrelated factors tend to cause an event, then it is not that "factor(s)" which is/are causing the vent, but the Commonality cat the Essence level) of those factors which is causing the event".

A popular event of "Association" and it factors are Considered for example:
